Why We Exist
The world changed and no one really announced it. Some of us remember dropping in on a neighbor for a cup of coffee, or heading over to the barbecue a few doors down the street. For some of us, that might sound awkward. Folks have just stopped talking to each other — and we’ve lost something real. We often don't even know our neighbors now. We rarely have to go to the bank or the post office anymore, and our groceries can arrive at the door. We can get through an entire week now without actually interacting with another human being. It happened quietly, one convenience at a time.
And somewhere in all that convenience, we lost the thing we need most: human connection and companionship.
We all know the feeling. Life is good, we're happy — and yet there's still this feeling that something's missing. I think what we're missing is being seen, heard, and knowing we belong.
That feeling got me thinking about my Dad.
Years ago, my Dad went through a really hard time. What got him through was going to the same coffee shop with the same group of guys, night after night. They told their stories, a couple jokes and shared a laugh.
Nobody was matching them on an algorithm — nobody was curating anything. They just kept showing up, night after night, because they felt seen, heard, and knew they belonged.
This is what we built. Our coffee shop, just online.

This is a community — in the real sense of the word. Just a group of real people who genuinely like being around each other, coming together to build honest connection, even through a screen.
Somewhere along the way, the world lost something. It's called community — the people you see without planning it, the table you can just walk up to, the faces that know yours.
This one started with my dad. When he lost my mom, what brought him back to the world was other people — not once, but over and over. Nearly every night for more than twenty years, he went to the same coffee shop and sat at the same table with the same familiar faces. That's what carried him through: knowing that whatever kind of day he'd had, whatever he was carrying, someone would be there. Someone to talk to if he felt like talking — or to say nothing at all and just share a few laughs. That steady, ordinary sense of belonging is what we're building here. That coffee shop, online.
We're not going to pretend we can fix everything. But we can tell you this is a place where we're genuinely glad you showed up. Be here as much or as little as you like — five minutes or a whole evening. Jump in and talk, or just pull up a seat and take it in.
One thing we mean with everything we've got: here, you're not the product. You're a member — a real person, welcome exactly as you are.

Keeping these rooms going takes real work, and we're looking for people to help. Mostly it's answering members' questions when there are any, and being about.
What this is, plainly:
- No set hours. Come when you want. Don't, when you don't.
- Nothing you have to do. No shifts, no quotas, no reports to file, nobody checking up on you.
- Nothing in return. This is unpaid and there's no free membership, no discount and no perk attached to it. We'd rather say that here than have you find out later.
- Stop whenever you like. No notice, no explanation, no hard feelings. Saying yes now doesn't commit you to anything.
We're keeping this small on purpose — a few hundred people, not thousands. If that sounds like you, put your name down and we'll be in touch.
